
Addison Cyr poured in 18 first-half points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked five shots as her top seeded and undefeated Mattanawcook Academy girls basketball team from Lincoln and cruised to a 64-30 victory over eighth seed Orono on Tuesday night.
The Lynx and Red Riots were facing off in a Class C North quarterfinal at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
Mattanawcook, now 19-0, will face defending state Class B champ and fifth seed Caribou in Thursday night’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal.
Senior guard Megan House had 10 first-half points to go with four assists, two steals and two blocks.
Mattanawcook Academy had beaten Orono 67-36 and 67-34 during the regular season.

The 6-foot-1 Cyr concluded her evening with a double-double as she had 25 points and 12 rebounds. The Husson University-bound forward-center also had six blocks, four assists and a steal. She was a Bangor Daily News 2024-25 All-Maine Schoolgirl Basketball second team selection.
Cyr said there were some nerves to begin with.
“Just getting used to the floor again and getting into our groove of things. Took a little longer than it usually does but we got into it and started executing,” said Cyr.
“We wanted a better start tonight but it’s game one, the quarterfinals, and we kind of felt our way through it,” said Mattanawcook coach Pat House. “We had some good moments, not-so-good moments. There’s always things to work on, right. We can really defend when we want to and that will be our calling card moving forward.
Mattanawcook led 10-5 after the first period but outscored Orono 28-4 in the second quarter to pull away.

House finished with 14 points, seven assists, two steals and two blocked shots.
Senior forward Chloe De La Cruz produced 10 points, six rebounds and two assists and freshman guard Rylee Cyr had five points, six steals and three rebounds.
Orono received eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals from sophomore guard Madison Sinclair and seven points and six rebounds from junior forward Nina Mitchell along with two blocked shots. Junior guard Aubrey Quinney chipped in with five points, five rebounds and four assists.
