Liens totaling $345,000 have been placed on a new commercial retail strip mall on Route 1 in Thomaston.
Four liens have been filed since Oct. 31, 2025, on 200 New County Road, where Thomaston Retail Management, LLC, of Bingham Farms, Mich., has had a retail development constructed.
The liens are placed on the property but the companies filing the liens are stating that the money is owed by the construction company building the project — Stork Construction, LLC, doing business as Alrig USA Construction of Detroit.
Jake Barbour, Inc., and George C. Hall & Sons filed liens in the Knox County Registry of Deeds saying they had done work totaling $238,104 but have not been paid that amount. Oakes and Parkhurst Glass of Augusta filed a lien saying it had performed work worth $61,794 and not been paid. And R.A. Cummings, Inc., doing business as Auburn Concrete of Auburn filed a lien for $28,545 saying it has not been paid for that amount of work done at the site.
Twin City Hardware of Oakdale, Minn., filed a lien in October for $16,525 but the lien was discharged in December.
Adam Grant, whose law firm represents Alrig, said with “certain of the lien claimants, payment agreements are in place.” He said Hall has been paid approximately $700,000 for its work on the project.
Thomaston Retail Management purchased the property in December 2022 after getting final approval from the Thomaston Planning Board. Construction began in September 2024.
Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop opened late last year. Starbucks Coffee Company is set to open soon at the location. An AT&T store is also in the retail complex. A tenant for the building’s fourth retail space has not been announced.
