Lady A member Charles Kelley is releasing a new rendition of his song “Can’t Be Alone Tonight” — and Us Weekly has the exclusive first look at its visualizer.
Kelley, 44, teamed up with fellow country singer Maren Morris to reimagine the romantic track off his 2025 solo album, Songs for a New Moon, ahead of Valentine’s Day. In the video, the duo sing the duet in a sunlit home studio while dressed down in T-shirts and jeans.
“Maren has been one of my favorite female voices in the genre ever since she busted on the scene with ‘My Church,’” Kelley tells Us, referencing Morris’ 2016 debut single. “Over the years, we’ve become great friends, and when thinking of who I could have sung with me on this song, she was my first choice. I’m honored she said yes, and I think she elevated this song to another level.”
While the ’80s-inspired original version leans R&B, Morris, 35, brings an indie-pop flair to the tune, harmonizing with Kelley on both the chorus and second verse.

“I just need somebody, not just anybody / Wish that I was stronger, but, baby, the truth is / That I just can’t be alone tonight,” the pair sing. “Say you’re coming over or I could just come over / I swear that it’s the last time, baby, I / No, just can’t be alone tonight.”
Lady A’s Charles Kelley Shares How His Journey to Sobriety Inspired Album
Kelley and Morris go way back, having first worked together in 2015 when she was still a newcomer in Nashville. At the time, Morris served as the opening act on Kelley’s tour supporting his first solo album, The Driver.
Since then, Kelley and Morris have remained friends and continued to publicly support each other’s endeavors. He also showed love to her after she distanced herself from the country music industry in 2023 due to its history of misogyny and racism.
“I think that, at the end of the day, you’ve got to listen to your heart,” Kelley told Billboard at the time. “If this is what her heart is saying, then more power to her.”

He continued, “I mean, we [Lady A] love her music. If [country] doesn’t feel like it’s where she is right now … I’m always gonna be a fan of her music wherever it’s played. If you’re making great music, you’re making great music.”
Charles Kelley Teases Lady A’s Next Chapter as They Enjoy ‘Musical Reset’
Kelley began his career alongside his Lady A bandmates, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood, in 2006. While the Grammy-winning group still releases music together, including their 2025 Christmas album, On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2), Kelley has also branched out on his own.
“I think we’re just in a spot in our lives where we don’t feel like we have to force it,” he told Us last year of Lady A’s release schedule. “I think we’re going to take our time and really focus on finding that sound over this next year. But we got some touring ideas in the works, so there’s always going to be that. But we really do want to make a great record. I told them, ‘Look at what Adele does.’ She just makes you wait and wait, and then she just drops a big old bomb on you. I love that. I’m hoping we can take some time with it and make something special.”
“Can’t Be Alone Tonight” is now streaming.
