Italian speed skater Francesca Lollobrigida shared her Olympic victory with her adorable two-year-old son, Tommaso.

After securing a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Saturday, February 7, Lollobrigida, 35, spoke to members of the press while caring for her child in front of the cameras.

During one post-win interview, shared via X on Sunday, February 8, Tommaso wrapped his arms around Lollobrigida and repeated “Mama” while attempting to stop her from speaking into a microphone.

In one adorable moment, the child tried to hold Lollobrigida’s mouth closed as she struggled to avoid his grasp, leading Tommaso to hold a finger up to his own mouth to indicate that he wanted silence from her. As the athlete continued speaking, the boy turned his attention to his mom’s headband and removed it from her head.

The video captured further toddler behavior from Tommaso, including him batting the microphone away from his mom’s face and playing with her gold medal.

A New York Times interview with Lollobrigida, published on Sunday, February 8, saw Lollobrigida reflect on her juggling of parenthood and a career. “The message I want to show is I didn’t choose between a family, being a mom [and being a speed skater],” she told the outlet.

The article also noted that Lollobrigida’s win in the women’s 3000-meter race coincided with her birthday. “I think it’s the perfect day … it’s incredible, the dream of my dreams,” she told the outlet.

The interview also delved into the challenges of reaching her Olympic dreams. “This (medal) is for myself, the people who believed in me, and the people who said, ‘Maybe she can’t do it, you know?’ They gave me the power to prove myself,” she told the outlet.

Lollobrigida also spoke about what she hopes for Tommaso, who was born in May 2023, telling the outlet that she “hopes one day he can watch Saturday’s race and understand what she accomplished.”

The Winter Olympics are providing multiple heart-warming mom-and-child moments, with retired figure skater Tara Lipinski, who was engaged by NBC Sports to commentate during this year’s figure skating competitions, defending her choice to bring her two-year-old daughter to Milan-Cortina, Italy with her.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Friday, February 6, Lipinski, 43, wrote, “Maybe I don’t want to choose. For so long, women weren’t given that option. I want my daughter to see a mother who chases her dreams and shows up fully for her.”

She continued at the time, “I can do both. In my own way at the same time.”

The post included a photo of Lipinski carrying her two-year-old daughter, Georgie, on her shoulders as the duo explored the Italian city together.

Additionally, six-time Olympic competitor Sarah Schleper of Mexico will compete in two alpine skiing competitions with her son, Lasse Gaxiola, 18. The first event will take place on Thursday, February 12, and the second is scheduled for Sunday, February 15.

According to the Associated Press, the pair’s entry into the Winter Olympics will mark the first time that a mother and son have ever competed together.
