A Gorham man died Tuesday afternoon in a collision in the town of Poland.
Dylan Sanphy, 26, was driving a gray 2016 Jeep Cherokee east on Plains Road about 3:40 p.m. when he tried to pass another vehicle and collided with a silver 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 driven by 52-year-old Edward Morris of Mechanic Falls, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Morris was towing a snowmobile trailer.
Sanphy died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday morning.
His two female passengers were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where they were treated for serious injuries.
Morris didn’t require hospitalization.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, and police are looking for the driver of the Subaru that Sanphy tried to pass just before the collision.
