Jamie Lynn Spears is honoring the anniversary of daughter Maddie’s near-fatal ATV accident.
“MIRACLE ANNIVERSARY🪽🤍,” Spears, 34, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, February 5. “I will never take for granted the gift we were given, bc I’m very aware that so many times in these situations that is not the case.”
She continued, “Thank you to every first responder, medical professional, friend, family, every single person who prayed for her, and ABOVE ALL THANK YOU GOD🙏🏻 go love on your people extra today, at the end of the day that is all that really matters.”
Spears also shared a series of photos from Maddie’s hospital stay, including one of the pair laying in the bed together and another of her sleeping beside her daughter. (Spears shares Maddie, 17, with ex Casey Aldridge. She’s also mom to 7-year-old daughter Ivey, whom she shares with husband Jamie Watson.)
In February 2017, Maddie was riding an ATV when the vehicle flipped over into a pond. She was knocked unconscious and was submerged underwater for several minutes before being airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
“I did have an accident, though. I was in a coma and I came back to life, and I’m very blessed,” Maddie recalled in an August 2025 YouTube video. “I’ve just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing, and they did not do anything to me.”
While Maddie had never spoken about the incident until her YouTube debut, Spears has since commemorated the day — which she refers to as the “miracle anniversary” — each year.
“I’ll never forget that, because it was the day my whole world stopped,” she wrote via Instagram in February 2020. “It started like most Sundays, going to church, visiting family, to suddenly trying to save my daughter’s life, to them taking her away, to us believing we had lost her forever, and it literally felt like the world stood still around me.”
Spears continued, “I have never spoken fully in detail about that day, and the events that followed, but what I will share is that God blessed us with a true miracle. Maddie not only stayed here with us, but she made a full recovery. I know so many of you prayed so hard for us, so I will never let this day pass without thanking each of you for every single prayer you said for us.”

In 2024, Spears gave a sweet shout-out to the priest who supported her after Maddie’s accident while recalling the day.
“Every year that passes and I watch my daughter grow up, the more I realize how very blessed we are, and never want to take that for granted,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Again, thank you to all the healthcare professionals who made the life saving decisions, and thank you to each and every person who prayed for our baby girl.”
“Thinking of Father Mark today, although he is in heaven now, he was always like an angel on earth for us, especially on this day 7 years ago,” she concluded.
Nearly nine years after the near-fatal incident, Maddie received a new ATV for Christmas.
“Merry CHRISTMAS ✝️🤶🏻🎀🎄🎁,” Spears captioned several holiday photos in December 2025, with one photo showing a 4×4 cherry-red vehicle parked in a garage with a red bow and a card that read, “Maddie!” In a separate video, Maddie and Ivey perched on the ATV.
