A firefighter was injured Tuesday morning while battling a blaze in Biddeford.
The fire broke out about 8:30 a.m. in a garage at an Elm Street home, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Firefighters encountered heavy flames and smoke when they arrived, but they managed to quickly extinguish it, Moss said Wednesday afternoon.
One firefighter was injured during the fight, but has since been treated and released from the hospital, according to Moss.
The fire left the garage with extensive damage, while rooms in the adjacent house sustained smoke and heat damage.
The Maine fire marshal’s office and Biddeford Fire Department concluded that an electrical issue with an outlet sparked the blaze.
