What Is ‘It Ends With Us’ About?

It Ends with Us is based on the best-selling Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. It tells the story of Lily Bloom (Lively), an aspiring florist who moves to Boston to pursue her dreams, where she meets charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni). The two experience an instant, passionate connection, but as their relationship progresses, Lily begins to experience a much darker side to Ryle’s personality — a side that reminds her of her parents’ own volatile dynamic. When Lily’s former lover, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), reenters her life by chance, it upends her relationship with Ryle and forces her to reexamine what she really wants.

What Happened Between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni?

That’s a can of worms that would take far too long to explain in full (so if you really want to dig deep, you can head straight to that aforementioned Wikipedia page — it’s a doozy), so we’ll just give you a brief rundown of how it started, and what’s currently happening. Things first became apparent during press for the film back in the summer of 2024, when it was clear that Lively and Baldoni were keeping distance from one another. Rumors of behind-the-scenes drama began to circulate online, and then Lively accused Baldoni of on-set harassment, and that’s when things really started to hit the fan. Baldoni countered by accusing Lively of creatively hijacking the film from him.

The lawsuits began in December of 2024, and accusations in the press continued to be made — including by Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, accusing Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, of mocking him in his movie Deadpool & Wolverine with the character of “Nicepool.”
There’s beena vicious back-and-forth over the past year and a half, and as of the past month, there are currently settlement talks between Lively and Baldoni’s lawyers ahead of their May trial date, in addition to newly unsealed texts from Lively’s co-star, Slate, and her friend Taylor Swift, as well as texts between actress Jameela Jamil and Baldoni’s publicist.
