I was struck last week by Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce’s comments about “bush league” by ICE. Now that federal agents have killed another U.S. citizen in what appears to have been a wildly unprofessional escalation on the streets of Minneapolis, only to have federal officials then plainly and brazenly lie about what occurred, I implore Sen. Susan Collins to take whatever actions are available to the Senate to prevent a similar tragedy from occurring here on the streets of Maine (or anywhere else, for that matter).
Vote to strip funding from the agency responsible. Impeach their leadership. If the best Collins can do is hold hearings, then hold hearings.
I have no doubt she is “concerned.” Sadly, I do doubt she’ll take enough action. Please, Sen. Collins, be on the right side of history, remember our state motto, and act.
My thoughts and prayers are that she will.
