Prime Video doesn’t always get the credit it deserves for having such a diverse lineup of movies to choose from.
It may not have the biggest selection, but Prime Video does have a lot of different film genres that are well-represented.
Watch With Us has chosen three new Prime Video movies to watch in January 2026, as ranked by IMDb.
Our picks include a horror comedy sequel, an unconventional rom-com and one of the great movie musicals of the last two decades.

3. ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ (2019)
If the Zombieland films maintain a tradition of letting a decade pass between each sequel, then we should get Zombieland 3 in 2029. In the 10 years since the first film, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) and Wichita (Emma Stone) haven’t changed very much. But Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) isn’t a little girl anymore, and she wants to find someone she can love.
That proves to be difficult when the world is still overrun by zombies. Even the romance between Columbus and Wichita is strained when she won’t commit, and another potential lover, Madison (Zoey Deutch), finds herself in the group. When Little Rock runs off in the name of love, it’s up to the remaining group to track her down and keep her safe — assuming they can stay alive long enough to do so.
Zombieland: Double Tap is streaming on Prime Video.
2. ‘About a Boy’ (2003)
About a Boy is an unusual rom-com because the central relationship isn’t between a pair of lovers. It’s all about the bond that forms between a carefree bachelor, Will Freeman (Hugh Grant), and a bullied boy named Marcus Brewer, as played by Nicholas Hoult years before he went on to greater stardom.

Marcus would ideally like to get his mother, Fiona (Toni Collette), together with Will, but there aren’t many romantic sparks between them. Instead, Will finds himself drawn to Rachel (Rachel Weisz), a woman who assumes that he’s Marcus’ father. The relationships are a little messy, but there’s something heartwarming about the way that Will stays in Marcus’ life even when he doesn’t have to.

1. ‘Les Misérables’ (2012)
There was a terrific theatrical adaptation of Victor Hugo‘s Les Misérables in 1998 with Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush in the leading roles. But the 2012 film went even further by adapting the Broadway musical as an epic historical drama set in 19th century France. Hugh Jackman led the cast as Jean Valjean, a man who spent nearly two decades behind bars for stealing a loaf of bread.
Valjean may have been freed from prison, but he’s hounded throughout his life by his former jailer, Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe), a heartless man who is convinced that Jean is beyond redemption. Anne Hathaway won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her turn as Fantine, a woman whom Valjean cares very deeply for. The music and the emotions that come with it elevated this film to another level. It’s much better than a mere 7.5 score would have you believe.
