The plane that crashed at Bangor International Airport on Sunday night ended up upside down.
That’s according to dispatcher calls Sunday night requesting first responders at the airport.
The Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed about 7:45 p.m. shortly after takeoff and then caught on fire, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
Eight people were aboard the private plane, a Bangor Police Department spokesperson has said.
No details have been made public about how many survived the crash,
First responders worked well into the night, and the airport was closed to air traffic as people were advised to avoid the area. The Federal Aviation Administration has closed the airport until at least noon Monday.
NTSB investigators have been unable to reach the crash site as of Monday morning because of heavy snow and poor conditions from the winter storm that began Sunday. A team may not get there for another day or two.
