New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye led his team to the biggest win of his professional career on Sunday, January 25, but some fans argued that he didn’t seem too thrilled when his wife, Ann Michael Maye, joined him on the field.
The NFL shared a video via Instagram of Drake, 23, and Ann, 22, in the aftermath of New England’s 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos, sending the Patriots to the Super Bowl for the first time in 7 seasons. In the clip, Ann congratulates Drake on the win, while Drake’s attention appears to be all over the place.
Fans were quick to point out the alleged slight in the comments.
“His body language is throwing me off,” one wrote. “This was hard to watch. She was so excited for him.”

“Why does he always seem so standoffish around her?” another added. “She was so excited.”
A third wrote, “He looks like he couldn’t care less that she’s there – and this is coming from a die hard patriots fan. It hardly looks like a couple celebrating going to the Super Bowl. Awkward.”

Keep in mind that this was minutes after the game ended and it can often take some time before an elite athlete can switch off the intensity — particularly in the playoffs.
“I’m sure that he loves her. He’s just locked in,” one defensive fan wrote. “He knows that he has one more game to win.”

Drake didn’t have the flashiest game. It was a defensive struggle amid brutal weather conditions in Denver. He threw for only 86 yards, but also rushed for 65, including his team’s lone touchdown. He also scrambled for the game-winning first down in the final seconds.
Drake’s heroics sent the Patriots to the Super Bowl for the first time in the post-Tom Brady Era. Brady, 48, led New England to six championships in his two decades in Foxboro.
“The history and everything about it, it’s a new team, it’s a new era,” Drake told reporters after the game. “I respect and appreciate what the Patriots dynasty did, and unfortunately, they didn’t come out with some wins [in Denver], but we changed that narrative and look forward to bringing our best football to Santa Clara [the home of Super Bowl LX]. That’ll be pretty special.”
As for Ann, she did everything she could to support Drake from the stands, taking to Mile High Stadium dressed head-to-toe in Patriots gear and colors. That included a custom bomber jacket made from patches of Drake’s jersey, a Patriots hoodie and an illustrated photo of Drake.
She matched Patriots tight end Hunter Henry’s wife, Parker Henry, who wore a similar jacket to support her husband.
Ann explained in a TikTok video on Friday, January 23 that warmth and comfort would be key, with most of the country expected to be hammered by snow, including Denver.
“Obviously, I have so many layers,” she explained. “I think I’m going to wear this big [ivory, fur-trimmed] coat on the plane, then I threw in some socks, bras, underwear. I have some heated socks, and I’m bringing two little beanie options.”
She added,”It’s literally one night, but because it’s so cold, the clothes are just so big.”
