Federal investigators have been unable to reach the site of Sunday night’s plane crash in Bangor.
That’s because of heavy snow and poor conditions from the winter storm that began battering the state Sunday night.
The Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed about 7:45 p.m. Sunday shortly after takeoff and then caught fire, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
Few details have been made public about the eight people aboard the private plane when it crashed. It’s unclear whether there were any survivors.
The plane reportedly ended up upside down, according to dispatcher calls.
First responders worked well into the night, and the airport was closed to air traffic as people were advised to avoid the area. The Federal Aviation Administration has closed the airport until at least noon Monday.
