Eagle-eyed fans pointed to Colton Underwood‘s Instagram bio amid criticism from his time on The Traitors.
One user took to X on Saturday, January 24, to share a screenshot of Underwood’s bio, which read, “husband, dad, adventurer, coffee addict, Aquarius, TV producer & Host, NYT best seller and a human being.”
The user underlined “and a human being” and wrote in the caption, “He is so fkn dramatic help.”
Some users, however, took to the comments section to defend Underwood, 34. “But the internet has got to Stop Taking these shows so serious that they’re sending out death threats and harassing [people’s] Families. It’s never ever that deep. Leave that man alone,” one user wrote, while another added, “Its his first time living too.”
Colton Underwood Slams ‘Hateful’ Remark About His Sexuality: ‘Be Kind Today’
Underwood, who is a contestant on season 4 of The Traitors, has made headlines for his onscreen and offscreen drama with cast member Lisa Rinna. The pair haven’t seen eye to eye throughout the season, with Underwood trying to get Rinna, 62, voted off the show during the Thursday, January 22 episode.
The next day, a fan took to Threads to share a meme of Rinna from her days on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In the photo, she is seen saying one of her most iconic lines to Dorit Kemsley, “Were people doing coke in your bathroom?”
“THIS is who Colton thinks he’s slick up against? GOOD LUCK BUDDY!” the fan captioned the Friday, January 23, post. Rinna, for her part, replied in the comments section, “Let’s talk about you being a stalker….” (The comment was referring to Underwood’s past alleged harassment of ex-girlfriend Cassie Randolph. Us Weekly reached out to Underwood’s rep for comment at the time.)
Rinna went on to issue a statement regarding the backlash Colton has received online.
Colton Underwood Says Housewives Are a ‘Different Breed’ on ‘Traitors’
“Hi, guys, OK so it’s come to my attention that my post that I responded to in my Housewife mode is taking on a life of its own and it’s causing real problems for Colton and I do not want this because Colton and I are great,” she said via her Instagram Story on Saturday. “He was a great and is a great nemesis for me on the show in the game. Now, as you know, if you ask me to be a Housewife I’ll bring it to you, right? That’s what I was doing, all in the name of the game. But just so you know, I am totally great with Colton. I have been texting with him. We talk. Everything is great.”
In a second video uploaded to her Instagram Story on Saturday, she continued, “The fact that the backlash is happening, I feel horrible about because I don’t want to hurt anybody. I am here to play the game to have fun and Colton is a great nemesis for me. We had so much fun. I always, always had a great time with him. So please guys be gentle. It’s a game. It’s a TV show. We’re all doing the best we can. Don’t send death threats or do anything to jeopardize somebody’s family.”
Rinna went on to note that she and Underwood “had so much fun” filming season 4 of the hit show.
“Listen, it’s all part of the game, even after,” she said. “So everyone, take a deep breath and just know that everything is great. It’s a game. It is a game. Try to watch it like a sporting event, you know? Like if you were watching football or wrestling, and just be gentle with everybody, because everyone is doing the best they can.”
