Actor Colin Egglesfield is sharing an update on his health after being diagnosed with cancer for a third time.

In January 2025, the Something Borrowed actor, 52, revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, after previously battling testicular cancer twice.

In an interview with E! News published on Wednesday, January 21, Egglesfield shared the good news that he is now “cancer-free” and “feeling great.”

“I’m grateful to be here. I’m just grateful that I’m on the other side of it and able to now move on with my life,” the All My Children alum shared.

Egglesfield told E! News he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in late 2024 and underwent prostatectomy surgery shortly after he got the news. He has had now had a clean bill of health for nearly a year.

“It’ll be a year in February. Fortunately, they caught it early enough where I didn’t have to do any radiation or chemotherapy or anything and that’s one of the things that I just wanted to avoid,” he said.

Egglesfield said his early diagnosis was a vast difference from when he was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2006.

Back then, he said, “I waited almost until it was too late and it had started to spread. So when they did the surgery and they tested lymph nodes and that sort of thing, they determined that it had spread. So I had to do radiation treatment and I did not want to go through any of that stuff anymore.”

“It’s a tough decision to have a prostatectomy because a lot of men will elect to do the radiation pellets,” Egglesfield added, explaining that he opted against radiation therapy because he had it before and was told having it again could cause secondary cancers.

Although he is now cancer-free, Egglesfield said he is still recovering from his cancer battle.

“It hasn’t been an easy recovery because there’s learning how to go to the bathroom again, and erectile stuff,” the Melrose Place actor said. “But knowing that I don’t have to deal with this in the future, and I can potentially move on, is something I’m super grateful for.”

Egglesfield first opened up about his prostate cancer diagnosis in an Instagram post shared with his followers in January 2025.

James Van Der Beek’s Most Honest Quotes About His Cancer Journey

“‘It’s not the hand that you’ve been dealt because you can’t change that. It’s how you play the cards that counts.’ I found this quote from an interview I did when I was 25 and it has served me well throughout my life including recently,” he wrote at the time. “The beginning to this year hasn’t been the easiest, but in the spirit of what I said in my interview, this is another opportunity to decide who I choose to be in the face of uncertainty and challenges in my most recent cancer diagnosis.”

He continued, “Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few health care professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery.”

“Hopefully this is a reminder to everyone that you’re not alone with whatever you’re facing and that it’s important to advocate for yourself and your health which includes checkups, seeking information and asking for help when you need it!” Egglesfield added.
