A judge set bail at $250,000 Wednesday for an Orrington man charged with murder in his infant daughter’s death.
Shawn Samuels, 24, appeared in court after being charged with killing his 12-week-old daughter, Lyla Samuels, last week, according to WABI-TV.
The infant became unresponsive Friday at the family’s Orrington home and was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where she later died.
Samuels was initially arrested Saturday on domestic violence charges. After an autopsy Monday ruled the death a homicide, he was charged with murder.
The cause of death is pending final testing from the medical examiner’s office.
In addition to setting bail, the judge barred Samuels from having contact with any child under the age of 18, said WABI.
