Amanda Seyfried revealed the unusual way Channing Tatum pranked her on the set of Dear John.
Seyfried, 40, and Tatum, 45, played lovers in the 2010 romantic war drama, based on Nicholas Sparks’ 2006 novel of the same name, but the mood was much more lighthearted on set.
In an interview with Deadline published on Thursday, January 15, the Oscar nominee was asked one of her favorite behind-the-scenes memories from her career and immediately recalled her dynamic with Tatum.
“I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but it’s fun to talk about because it just goes to show the relationship that I have with Channing Tatum and Dear John,” Seyfried said.

She continued, “He and I effed with each other the entire movie in, like, a super, super fun way. He’s very, very funny, and we had a great time. He peed on my leg once without me knowing.”
Seyfried reiterated, “He peed on my leg on the beach, and I didn’t realize at first, and then I was like, ‘Oh, that’s why he’s standing so close to me.’”
The Testament of Ann Lee star also shared how she saved one of the film’s crew members from an embarrassing moment.
“There was a coffee cup, like, very close by and, like, a little bit got in the coffee cup, and he ran away as I was screaming and one of the makeup artists picked it up and was about to drink it,” she said. “Well, I saved her.”
Seyfried previously spoke about her and Tatum’s easy on-set chemistry in an interview with E! News.
“Channing and I have a very similar set behavior. We don’t take anything too seriously, but we’re shooting a movie that’s very heavy, all about love and romance. It’s a tear-jerker, so we just like to play around,” she said.
At the time, Seyfried even called Tatum her “favorite costar thus far.”
Seyfried shot to fame in the 2000s with roles in Mean Girls, Big Love, Veronica Mars and Mamma Mia!, going on to play the lead in movies such as Dear John and Letters to Juliet.

In recent months, the actress has expressed her desire to revisit her Mamma Mia! role.
In September 2025, Seyfried told Deadline, “It is [happening], I think. We all said, yeah, definitely! It’s our way of marketing and getting support. … Big movies like that are all about studio timing.”
At the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11, Stellan Skarsgård shared an update on the sequel exclusively with Us Weekly.
“A lot of people are working on it to bring it back,” Skarsgård revealed to Us.
Skarsgård also assured Us that Meryl Streep’s character, Donna, could return in the third film. (Donna was killed off in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, though Streep appeared in dream sequences, and Lily James portrayed a younger version of Donna in flashbacks.)
“Everybody can be brought back in the movies,” Skarsgård, 74, said. “In the movies, it’s fantastic!”
“She’s not dead, you know! Meryl Streep [as Donna] is not dead!” he added.
