The Masked Singer revealed the identity of the Croissants after ending on a cliffhanger last week — and one judge’s guess was right on the money.

This post contains spoilers for episode 2 of The Masked Singer season 14.

Todd and Julie Chrisley were unmasked as the Croissants during the Wednesday, January 14, episode of the Fox singing competition, as judge Jenny McCarthy predicted. The couple went home after just one performance, but it was a number that will go down in Masked Singer history: Fresh out of prison, the pair put their spin on Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock.”

After their elimination, Todd, 56, exclusively told Us Weekly that the tune was one of several presented to him and Julie, 53, when they signed on for the show, along with “Butter” by BTS. He was immediately on board for the Elvis classic, but Julie wasn’t so sure.

Todd Chrisley Was ‘Embarrassed’ to Watch Savannah on ‘Masked Singer’

“I said, ‘Oh, my God, let’s do this one,’” Todd recalled on Wednesday. “And Julie was like, ‘I’m not doing that.’ And I said, ‘Why? It’s not like the whole world doesn’t know. I don’t give a s***, so let’s just do it. It’ll be fun.’ And so when we told that to the folks at The Masked Singer, they were like, ‘Are you serious? You’ll do it? Because we so wanted you to do this.’ And I said, ‘Yes, that’s the one we want to do.’”

The Chrisley Knows Best alums further leaned into the jail theme with their outfits, which featured black-and-white striped outfits reminiscent of old-school prison uniforms. In their introduction during the January 7 season premiere, they were even attached to each other with a ball and chain.

As fans may recall, Todd and Julie were released from prison in May 2025 after they were pardoned by President Donald Trump. The couple were convicted on 12 counts of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy in June 2022. Todd was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Julie received a sentence of seven years. The duo, who have repeatedly claimed they are innocent of any crimes, had been behind bars since January 2023.

While some fans may have been surprised to see the pair on The Masked Singer, Todd told Us that they wanted to prove to viewers — including those who are still incarcerated — that there’s life on the other side.

Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley’s Relationship Timeline

“I don’t want to make light of a very tragic situation, but listen, we survived it, and there are so many people that don’t,” he explained. “I want the world to know — and I want the men that I left behind who are sitting there watching this, they don’t know yet. So, I mean, they’ll find out tonight that Julie and I were on, because they’re sitting in prison watching this show. It’s a huge show in prison.”

He added, “I want them to know that there is life after that season of their lives. … It was kind of like a snub to anyone who thought they were going to use [our past] to hang over our head.”

According to Julie, some of her former fellow inmates have been watching the show — and reached out to ask whether that was her under the Croissant outfit.

“I’ve gotten several calls about it,” she told Us. “I was like, ‘Who is calling me from prison?’ And when I got the call, they’re like, ‘I swear this sounds like you.’”

As Masked Singer contestants are sworn to secrecy, Julie and Todd didn’t spill the beans — not even to their daughter Savannah Chrisley, who was on the show as Afghan Hound in season 11. (“Trying to abide by the rules, despite what people might think!” Julie quipped.)

Savannah nearly found out, however, when someone saw her parents at the Fox studio in Los Angeles. The reality star, 28, immediately called her mom and dad to try to get the scoop, but they kept their lips sealed.

‘The Masked Singer’ Winners Through the Years: Where Are They Now?

“I got a text from her and she said, ‘Are you doing Masked Singer?’ And I said, ‘What?’” Todd recalled. “And then she called and she said, ‘Are you doing Masked Singer?’ And I said, ‘Why are you asking me that?’ She said, ‘Because I just got a text message from someone on the lot that said they ran into my parents, and they were the loveliest people.’”

Todd didn’t crack under her questioning, messaging her back, “People tell you that I’m nice all the time.”

While Todd and Julie only got to perform once, they still technically made it farther than Savannah, as their elimination happened in their second episode rather than their first. Julie noted that she never tries to compete with her children, but Todd didn’t hesitate to declare that he thinks the Croissants were better than Afghan Hound.

“[Savannah] watched it the other night, and she said, ‘You did so good. Y’all did so good, and you made it further than me!’ And I laughed and I said, ‘Well, Savannah, if we hadn’t made it further than you, we would have really been in trouble, because you were horrible,’” Todd joked. “And she started laughing and said, ‘I don’t care, I had a good time. … So, we’ve now both done that, the next is to put Nanny [Faye] on there.’”

The Masked Singer airs on Fox Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
