Healthy Acadia invites community members to join the next session of its Monthly Mindfulness Series “Self-Compassion: Simple and Essential” on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 5-6 p.m. via Zoom. The free, one-hour session will be led by mindfulness educator Ursula Hanson and will introduce self-compassion as a practical, everyday skill to support emotional well-being.
Grounded in research on mindfulness, emotional regulation and resilience, the session will explore the core elements of self-compassion: self-kindness, common humanity and mindful awareness. Participants will learn how relating to themselves with greater care can help soften self-criticism and strengthen their ability to cope with life’s challenges, using simple tools and guided exercises.

Ursula Hanson serves as a consultant with Healthy Acadia’s mindfulness programming. She leads mindfulness and yoga classes for children in preschool through fifth grade and offers professional development workshops for educators on integrating mindfulness into the classroom. Hanson also facilitates community-based programs on topics such as self-compassion, parenting, and pain management, and coordinates Healthy Acadia’s Monthly Mindfulness Series, which features local practitioners sharing their expertise with the broader community.
