PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — There was smoke showing from a Conant Road garage when Presque Isle firefighters arrived early Saturday morning, according to Fire Chief Darrell White.
The two-story, 4,200-square-foot Conant Road home was saved, and there was minimal fire damage to the garage ceiling, as well as some heat damage, White said.
“We had to cut power to the home, but it is structurally sound,” he said. “They have some work to do, but the home is liveable.”
Fire crews were able to put the blaze out quickly with about 400 gallons of water, according to White.
The Easton Fire Department assisted on scene, and Caribou Fire Department covered the Presque Isle station during the incident.
The Presque Isle Fire Department requested assistance from the state fire marshal’s office to determine the origin and cause of the fire, said Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Fire investigators determined that the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical failure in the garage, Moss said.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
