TLC’s docuseries The Cult of the Real Housewife explored allegations against Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby and husband Robert Cosby Sr. — including monetary extortion and affair claims.

The special, which premieres on January 1, highlighted ex-congregants of Mary, 53, and Robert’s church, Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. Mary’s sister, Denise Jefferson, and cousin Dan Cosby were also interviewed alongside investigative journalists and bloggers who covered Mary’s backstory since she joined The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in 2020.

In the first part of the doc, Mary and Robert were accused of extorting money from members of the church. There were also claims Mary had an affair with Cameron Williams, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City before his death in 2021.

Mary was an original cast member on RHOSLC but did not attend the season 2 reunion, leading to her exit from the show. She returned in season 4 as a recurring cast member and has remained on the show since then.

A History of Real Housewives Skipping the Reunion — and the Consequences

The Cult of the Real Housewife addressed some of the claims about Faith Temple that Mary previously discussed on the hit Bravo series. She broke her silence about TLC’s docuseries two months before its release date.

“I think it’s sad and a shame. It’s horrible,” Mary said during a panel at BravoCon in November 2025. “That’s what I think.”

In response to a fan that wanted to know her reaction to the trailer, Mary added, “It’s not true.”

The Cult of the Real Housewives premieres on TLC Thursday, January 1, at 8 p.m. ET. All episodes will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max and discovery+.

Keep scrolling for the biggest revelations from the first part of the docuseries:

Playing the Leaked Audio

TLC used leaked audio from 2020 where Mary called her congregation “poor” and “stingy,” which she addressed at the season 1 RHOSLC reunion. Mary confirmed she was the voice in the audio but claimed it “was taken out of context.”

The Church’s Alleged Money Issues

Rosalind Enoch, who was a member of the church, accused Mary and Robert of pressuring congregants to donate money.

“They created this thing called these heave offerings. They were going to have them every six months. It started to increase over time. We could have just had a heave offering meeting and then in a week or two, we’re having another meeting where we’re being told there’s an emergency, and they need $100,000,” she claimed. “You’re just being barricaded in here. During this meeting, everyone put their name and their amount on the list. If you didn’t have a certain amount, Robert would say, ‘And that’s all you have?’”

She continued: “They collect money and they use credit cards. In fact, I can recall texting my debit card number to one of the members that collected the money, so that he could enter that in manually. There were times that I would give $5,000. It was a lot.”

Rosalind’s brother, Ernest Enoch, had a similar experience.

“There were people cashing out 401Ks and losing homes. It got to be a financial embarrassment for some,” he noted.

Mary also addressed the accusations at an RHOSLC reunion, claiming, “My church couldn’t possibly take care of me. If they thought I was taking their money, they know better. I am a God-fearing woman, I would never do that.”

The Car Accident Mentioned by Mary on the Show

In RHOSLC season 2, Mary spoke to Whitney Rose‘s daughter about a car accident involving someone from her church.

“One of [the] members in our church, their daughter had a crash. [It was] last night and she was ejected from the sunroof,” she claimed. “She fell down into a neighborhood [which was a] 30 feet drop off the freeway. Wear your seatbelt.”

Maikel Enoch died in 2021 after she was ejected from her vehicle’s sunroof during a rollover crash. Her father, Michael Enoch, was interviewed in the TLC doc about Mary bringing up the incident on her reality show.

“How did it make me feel? I was angry. That was an attack on me and my daughter. You have to be one miserable human being to go that low,” he said. “Why are you speaking on my daughter, anyway? You didn’t send condolences.”

Michael was glad his daughter “didn’t have to hear it,” adding, “It’s unfortunate for my daughter that she loved Mary and Robert. She loved the church. She kept a doll that Mary bought her when my daughter was a little girl. When I went to clean out her place, she still had that doll.”

According to Michael, Mary allegedly told members of the church not to donate to fundraising efforts to help the Enoch family after Maikel’s death.

The Mystery Surrounding Cameron Williams

Mary’s costar Lisa Barlow dug into claims against Faith Temple on screen when she spoke to congregant Cameron about his experience. During a 2021 episode of RHOSLC, Cameron revealed he “mortgaged his house” and gave $300,000 to Mary.

Mary was confronted about Cameron’s side of the story. “I’ve been through this my whole life because people hated me for my life and my lifestyle,” she said at the time. “But I’m not God. I worship the God in me.”

The Cult of the Real Housewife acquired never-before-heard audio between Cameron — who died in late 2021 — and Mary’s cousin Dan Cosby. In the phone call, Cameron confessed to an alleged affair with Mary after he joined her church.

“He says, ‘What I’m going to tell you, I’m only telling you because I’m fearing for my life.’ If anything happened to him, he wanted his story out,” Dan recalled. “So then Cameron just started spilling the beans. According to Cameron, Mary went to Cameron’s house and she started asking him if he’ll put on this music.”

Dan continued: “They come sit by each other. Mary grabs Cameron’s hand and starts rubbing herself [against him]. And according to Cameron, he put his hand in her vagina. And I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘And then we had sex.’”

The audio of Cameron included him sharing his frustrations about Mary. “I have no family here, no real friends,” he said. “I have nothing and I’m just in this church and Mary gives me everything.”

According to the docuseries, producers contacted Mary and Robert, but “they declined to be interviewed or to comment on any of the allegations made in the program.”

Questioning Mary’s Marriage to Robert

In the second part of the docuseries, which drops on January 1, members of the congregation recalled Mary’s grandmother Rosemary “Mama” Cosby meeting Robert Sr. They had a 20-year age difference, which made Rosemary apprehensive about a romantic relationship with the younger Robert Sr., but they ultimately got married in 1975 to run Faith Temple together.

Mary has previously stated on RHOSLC that her family wanted her to marry Robert Sr. to keep the church in the family. In this doc, there were allegations that Mary was once “disfellowshipped” from Faith Temple because of her behavior when she was younger. Rosemary died amid Mary’s discommunication from the church.

A reporter interviewed for the doc spoke about finding divorce documents for Mary and ex-husband Dana Harris processed on September 8, 1998, with Mary and Robert Sr. getting married weeks later on September 27, 1998. (Mary, for her part, denied any crossover between her marriages during the first RHOSLC reunion.)

In footage from the church, Mary’s mother was seen staging a walkout service over Mary and Robert Sr.’s marriage. This resulted in Faith Temple being split into two different groups.

Allegations of Abuse

During his first marriage to Rosemary, Mary’s cousin Dan and other male members accused Robert Sr. and other church elders of creating a “brotherhood” gathering that included alleged abusive military-style exercises t. They listed having to hold books while running in place and taking a pin and putting it under their knees so they wouldn’t sit or else they would get injured.

Rosemary was allegedly made aware of this but remained with Robert Sr. because “Faith Temple has a tradition of avoiding” divorce.

Robert Sr. declined to provide a comment.

How Faith Temple Changed Once Mary and Robert Sr. Took Over

In the docuseries, former members of the church recalled Mary and Robert Sr. installing cameras. While Rosemary had cameras in the church as well, Mary and Robert Sr. allegedly watched their congregation when they were out of town. Mary was accused of sending messengers if she didn’t like what she saw. Faith Temple also shifted by making confessions public, with members calling it “humiliating.”

Rosalind recalled working for Robert Sr. and Mary as a personal assistant. She was employed by them for five years but claimed she was never compensated and compared it to a “slave plantation.”

Robert Sr.’s Alleged Attempts at Infidelity

Dan’s wife, Kim Cosby, recalled being accused of trying to take Robert Sr. away from her husband’s cousin Mary. Robert Sr. subsequently set up counseling sessions with Kim where he tried to convince her that she loved him. He continued to contact and allegedly manipulate Kim when she was still a member of the church.

Kim was one of several women from the church who revealed Robert Sr. hit on them. (After similar accusations about Mary and Robert Sr. were reported by the Daily Beast, her attorney denied the claims.)

Mary told Andy Cohen during the RHOSLC reunion that Faith Temple was finishing reconstruction while footage of the church showed a fence around the location with no signs of it being open again.
