PORTLAND — Norway Savings Bank team members continued their surprise “Holiday Helping Hands” donations to many worthy, local nonprofits this week with a special stop at the United Recovery Fund, located on 494 Forest Ave. The United Recovery Fund was founded in 2017 to provide a bridge to sustainable employment for people affected by substance use disorder and incarceration through the offering of support and the preserving of dignity.
“Thanks to NSB’s generosity, we get to witness firsthand the change that occurs in our clients’ lives each and every day,” said Karen Stanley, executive director of the United Recovery Fund. “With the support, we initially meet their most urgent needs, including housing, transportation, food, clothing and healthcare. Then, with the guidance of a program manager, we can help them begin to look toward the future and dream again about what is possible.”
