Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka intends to depart LIV Golf as he places an emphasis on his personal life.
“We have amicably and mutually agreed that Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League, following the 2025 season,” LIV Golf League CEO Scott O’Neil said in a statement on Tuesday, December 23. “Brooks is prioritizing the needs of his family and staying closer to home. We appreciate the significant impact he has had on the game and wish him continued success, both on and off the course.”
Koepka, 35, had been a member of the Saudi Arabia-backed golf league since June 2022. According to ESPN, he had one year left on his LIV contract, which was worth more than $100 million.
“Family has always guided Brooks’ decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home,” Koepka’s management team said in a statement on Tuesday. “Brooks will continue to be a huge supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what’s ahead.”

Koepka has been married to his wife, Jena Sims, since 2022. The couple share son Crew, who was born in July 2023.
In October, Sims, 36, announced she had suffered a miscarriage.
“At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby’s heart had stopped beating,” Sims shared via Instagram. “This is a grief no parent is ever prepared for. We are devastated, but remain hopeful to give Crew a sibling one day. Too often, these struggles happen in silence. There is still so much work and research needed to better understand and support women’s reproductive health.”
Sims added, “If you’re experiencing or have experienced pregnancy loss or infertility, please know you are not alone. 💔Lastly, I want to recognize the doctors and nurses who must deliver this kind of heartbreaking news every day. It has to be the hardest part of their job, and I’m holding space in my heart for you too.”
It is not clear what Koepka’s future holds, but ESPN reported that he informed the PGA Tour of his decision before it was officially announced.
Koepka will have to formally reapply for PGA Tour membership if he hopes to return.
The PGA Tour would then begin the reinstatement and disciplinary process, which includes “thoughtful input from the board, including player directors, per ESPN.

“Brooks Koepka is a highly accomplished professional, and we wish him and his family continued success,” the PGA Tour said in a statement on Tuesday. “The PGA Tour continues to offer the best professional golfers the most competitive, challenging and lucrative environment in which to pursue greatness.”
Sims, an actress and model, exclusively told Us Weekly in July about the couple’s coparenting style.
“We’re just such a good team and we’re really good at delegating,” Sims explained. “He can also read a room. If I’m really stressed, Brooks can pick up on it. He’ll come in and say, ‘I’m changing this diaper’ or ‘I’ll do bedtime tonight.’ He doesn’t have to do all that, but he does.”
She added, “I didn’t marry Brooks until I was like 33, so I definitely didn’t settle.”
