There is nothing but love between Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton, according to a royal expert.
“He treats her like his bride,” royal historian Amanda Foreman told People in an article published on Thursday, December 18. “They seem more loved-up than ever.”
Foreman credited the “terrible” ordeal that they’ve experienced throughout the last two years, speculating that it brought them closer together.
“That either drives couples apart, or, in their case, it brings them together,” the historian explained. “It irons out the kinks and enables them to see each other clearly.”
William and Kate ‘In Awe of Each Other’ After Year of Royal Drama
Foreman was, of course, referring to Kate’s cancer battle. The Princess of Wales announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. This past January, Kate announced that she was officially in remission.
William reflected on his difficult 2024, which also included a cancer diagnosis for his father, King Charles III.
“I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” the Prince of Wales said during AppleTV’s The Reluctant Traveler in September. “You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.”
Despite the previous rough patch, the couple has continued to show a united front. The past few months, specifically, showed Kate and William stepping out for multiple high-profile events together.
They attended the Royal Variety Performance at Royal Albert Hall in London last month, even showing a rare moment of PDA when William placed a kiss on Kate’s hand. Earlier this month, the couple stunned while attending a banquet at Windsor Castle to celebrate German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier‘s visit to the United Kingdom.
They took a major step in putting Kate’s illness behind them when moving out of Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park in November.
“The new house marks a new era for the family,” a source told Us Weekly exclusively in August. “The decision to move into this new home is a significant one that signals independence, though it is not entirely surprising.”

Their eldest son, Prince George, 12, is expected to go “off to boarding school,” while Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, will follow suit in the next few years. The new home “will allow” William and Kate to continue being close to their kids, the insider added.
The same source explained to Us that William and Kate are “are very strict about their boundaries” for protecting “their mental health and family life.”
“They have witnessed how the role of monarch can consume one’s entire being,” the insider added. “While they take their responsibilities very seriously, they are not afraid to say no when necessary.”
It has also been widely reported that the couple plans to stay in this home even when William becomes king.
“To outsiders, it may seem like a big move for the royals to not live in Buckingham Palace, but to insiders, it is not surprising,” the same source added. “King Charles has not lived there for a long time either and prefers to spend time outside of London.”
