I, like many, many people who live in Maine, have a very difficult time receiving medical help from a doctor. Doctors are in very short supply in the Bangor area and the entire state of Maine. It is a very serious problem.
I would suggest that the University of Maine establish a medical school to help confront this serious problem. A committee has been established to study this situation. It seems this committee has not come forth with information for a very long time.
Without question such a school would be very expensive. It would require the state Legislature to be on board and recognize the need and do everything possible to push forth ideas to formalize this serious need for the citizens of our state.
I believe the chancellor, UM president, University of Maine System board of trustees and legislators should show important leadership in establishing such a school that, I feel, would be of tremendous value to this community and the state of Maine for years to come.
