New video footage shows Nick Reiner moments before he was arrested for the murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

ABC News posted a short clip on Wednesday, December 17, that showed Nick, 32, at a gas station just before he was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department. He was carrying a red backpack and a black, white and green striped windbreaker. Nick appeared to be keeping a low profile with a baseball cap on his head.

Nick was also seen looking over his shoulder before getting in line to purchase a drink.

Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home on Sunday, December 14. They were 78 and 68 years old, respectively.

Rob Reiner and Wife Michele’s Deaths: Everything We Know So Far

The LAPD confirmed that the couple suffered apparent stab wounds. The New York Times later reported that Rob and Michele’s daughter, Romy, found her father’s body after the gate at the home failed to open for a scheduled appointment. Romy’s roommate apparently called 911 and paramedics who arrived on scene informed the 28-year-old that her mother was also dead. Romy told the police that her brother Nick also lived on the property, but the report claimed she did not suggest him as a suspect.

Nick was arrested on Monday, December 15, near a metro station close to the University of Southern California campus in Los Angeles.

“We owe it to their memory to pursue justice and accountability for the lives that were tragically taken,” the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office shared in a statement on Monday.

The following day, Nick was officially charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced in a press conference that Nick is facing life in prison without parole or death penalty.

Nick did not attend a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday, December 16, because he was not “medically cleared,” his attorney Alan Jackson told reporters. Once he receives medical clearance, Nick is set to be arraigned.

Inside Rob, Michele Reiner’s Final Days Before Son’s Arrest for Their Deaths

In the days following Rob and Michele’s murders, more details about their final moments have emerged.

A source told Us Weekly that the couple attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday, December 13. The insider claimed that Nick acted “creepily” toward guests during the event, asking several people if they were famous.

Multiple outlets have since reported that Nick got into an argument with Rob at the party, which caused the director and his wife to leave.

Rob and Michele wed in 1989. Along with Nick and Romy, they shared son Jake. Rob was also the father to daughter Tracy, whom he adopted during his prior marriage to the late Penny Marshall.

The Reiner family released a statement addressing Rob and Michele’s deaths on Sunday.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” a spokesperson told Variety. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
