Urban Pizza in Bangor is reopening after it temporarily closed a year ago.

The pizza spot at 329 Main St. next to Dunkin’ was open Wednesday afternoon, serving a limited menu after entering a soft opening phase Sunday, according to its Facebook account. It’s not yet operating seven days a week.

It’s the latest chapter for the restaurant that first opened in December 2023, seven years after its owner announced plans to open, before closing in December 2024.

Owner Matt Haskell said at the time he planned to close for a few months to “revamp the concept” and make changes to the restaurant’s food, service delivery and interior.

Haskell also owns Blaze at 18 Broad St., which has additional locations in Bar Harbor, Biddeford, Blue Hill, Camden and Dover-Foxcroft. He did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday.

Urban Pizza was serving New York, South Shore and Sicilian style pizza Wednesday, but its full menu will also include New Haven and Detroit style pizza, hoagies, burgers, beer, wine and cocktails, according to Facebook.

Customers can order a full pie or choose from a slice bar, the restaurant’s Facebook account stated.

The establishment has not yet announced a grand reopening date.
