Detective Benoit Blanc is back for another head-scratching murder mystery whodunit in Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man.
Daniel Craig returned as the beloved detective for the third installment of the Knives Out franchise. Wake Up Dead Man features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
Wake Up Dead Man follows a charismatic priest, Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Brolin) and his devout congregation in the wake of a mysterious death. Benoit is called in to aid police chief Geraldine Scott (Kunis) with her investigation in hopes of solving the murder.
The movie premiered in theaters on Wednesday, November 26, before heading to Netflix on December 12.

Who Died in ‘Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man’?
While giving a sermon before Easter, Monsignor Jefferson dies in the middle of church.
Who Are the Suspects in ‘Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man’?
The main suspect is a young priest named Reverend Jud Duplenticy (O’Connor) a boxer who later joined the congregation. Prior to Monsignor Jefferson’s demise, Reverend Jud was seen having an argument with him as they had opposing ideas on how to lead the church. While many suspect the young reverend, Benoit believes he is innocent.
Lawyer Vera Draven (Washington) also enters as a potential suspect in the case. Vera thought her father had an illegitimate son (McCormack), but it turned out that Monsignor Jefferson was his biological father.
Vera publicly confronted the priest with the information she learned days before his death, leading Benoit to believe anyone in the church could be a suspect.
How Did ‘Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man’ End?
Wake Up Dead Man ends with Benoit refusing to reveal to the group who was responsible for the priest’s death. Everyone leaves the room with the exception of Benoit, Reverend Jed and Geraldine. Martha Delacroix (Close), who was a devout church goer, decides to come forward.
Who Was the Murderer in ‘Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man’?
Martha, the priest’s right hand woman, confesses to the killing. She explains that she turned on Monsignor Jefferson after he double crossed her when she told him about the location of an expensive diamond hidden by her grandfather. Monsignor Jefferson had plans to take the diamond so he and Cy could use the money in a manner she didn’t approve of.
Martha teamed up with town doctor Nat Sharp (Renner) to spike Monsignor Jefferson’s drink which led to him passing out. The plan continued with Dr. Nat inspecting the priest’s body which led him to being able to subtly stab him.
Dr. Nat and Martha also brought in groundskeeper Samson Holt (Church) on the murderous plan to retrieve the diamond. Samson was caught leaving the mausoleum, and ultimately killed. While Reverend Jed believed he was the one who caused Samson’s death, it was actually Dr. Nat.
Dr. Nat tried to double cross Martha by attempting to poison her before running off with the diamond. However, Martha was able to kill him first.
After confessing her crimes, Martha poisoned herself and Reverend Jed helped her pass on.
Does ‘Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man’ Have a Post-Credits Scene?
There is no post-credits scene for Wake Up Dead Man. The movie ends with Martha’s death.
Will There Be Another ‘Knives Out’ Movie?
As there are three movies in the Knives Out extended universe, fans are hopeful for a fourth story in the beloved franchise. Film maker Rian Johnson gave an update on a potential fourth movie in November 2025.
“I just started like tossing a couple of things out, but it’s not like we’re in the development process with it or anything,” he told Cinemablend at the time. “And the truth is, I know I’m going to make another movie that’s an original first before I make another one of these. And I actually think it’s kind of important to not really figure out what the next one is going to be until I’m ready to write it and make it.”
