Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are getting intimate — and kinky — in their upcoming film The Drama.
A24 released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming romantic drama on Wednesday, December 10, giving a first look into director Kristoffer Borgli’s story about engaged couple Emma (Zendaya) and Charlie (Pattinson) who find themselves in a crisis before their wedding day due to unexpected revelations.
The teaser begins with Emma and Charlie meeting with a photographer about their wedding. “Am I sensing some nerves? A little camera shy?” the photographer asks the couple, who both smile and shrug sheepishly.
To loosen up, the pair take some “warm up” pictures together, but are clearly icy as they stand far apart while giving each other awkward glances. The photographer then urges them to get closer to look more in love, and starts to ask them questions.

“What’s your favorite thing about Emma?” she asks Charlie as the scene cuts to the twosome looking happy and dancing together. “She’s beautiful, funny and she has the best laugh,” Charlie replies while flashing back to Emma pants-ing Charlie during a “serious” discussion.
Emma, meanwhile, says she loves how “caring,” “understanding” and “open minded” Charlie is. The teaser then shows the couple having sex, during which Emma slaps Charlie hard across the face and laughs.
“That’s good. So hold on to those thoughts,” the photographer says, urging them on. “And don’t forget to smile.”
Charlie, however, still has problems posing for the camera. “Just a natural smile, just how you would smile in life,” the photographer insists as he grimaces.
Text across the screen then reads, “You are cordially invited to the wedding of the year,” as Donna Lewis’ “I Love You Always Forever” plays. Emma can then be seen standing in a wedding dress while she gulps down brown liquor.
More quick flashes show Charlie seemingly panicking at the wedding, a toast to the couple, Emma and Charlie nearly getting run over in the road and Charlie with a bloody face before snapping back to the photographer’s office.
“OK, I think we’ll get there on the day,” she says, admitting defeat. After a long uncomfortable beat the trio agree, “OK!”

“Save the date this spring,” the screen reads, referencing the movie’s April 3, 2026, release date.
One day prior to the trailer’s release, A24 released its first poster for the film, which featured Emma sitting on Charlie’s lap as she showed off a diamond on her ring finger. The studio also ran the photo in the Tuesday, December 9, issue of The Boston Globe as an engagement announcement.
“Mr and Mrs Harwood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emma Hardwood to Charlie Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Thompson of London, England. Mr Hardwood, a decorated military veteran is proud to share this joyous news,” the ad read before giving a bit of background into Zendaya and Pattinson’s characters.“Miss Hardwood is a 2013 graduate of Portside High School and a 2017 honors graduate of Boston University where she earned her B.A. degree in English. She is currently employed at Mission Books.”
It continued, “The future groom, Mr Thompson, was a 2004 graduate of Eaton College and went on to earn his ph.D. in Art History from Tufts University. He serves as the Director of the Cambridge Art Museum.”
Zendaya and Pattinson were first spotted filming in and around Boston for The Drama in October 2024, which also stars Alana Haim, Mamadou Athie, Michael Abbott Jr., Sydney Lemmon and Hailey Gates. The Dune actress was also seen spending time with real-life fiancé Tom Holland in Boston at the time, enjoying a day in the park with their dog, taking leisurely walks and enjoying local art on Boston’s Newbury Street.

The Drama isn’t Pattinson and Zendaya’s only upcoming project together. The twosome will both star in Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film The Odyssey along with Holland, 29, Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway. Zendaya will portray Goddess Athena, while Pattinson will play Antinous and Holland will appear as Telemachus. The film is the latest adaption of Homer’s epic that follows Odysseus’ famous perilous journey to return home after the Trojan War, with Damon, 55, in the lead role.
The Drama hits theaters on April 3, 2026.
