BATH — “We are forever grateful.”
The words of Nicole Evans, executive director of United Way of Mid Coast Maine, speak to a recent $5,000 donation by Norway Savings Bank to the organization, but could easily be flipped around in resounding thanks for its incredible work.
The Bath-based United Way of Mid Coast Maine serves thousands of people each year. In the last year alone, the organization provided:
1. 11,032 families, children, and youth with access to high quality childcare, healthy and positive parenting skills, increased literacy skills and caring mentors;
2. 7,855 people with increased food security, safe shelter and guidance;
3. 8,285 people with better engagement with their community through access to education and support on violence prevention and abuse, substance use disorder and healthcare.
Additionally, the United Way of Mid Coast Maine Community Response Initiative brings community partners together to respond to emerging and unmet community needs like increasing youth hopefulness, reducing adult and veteran homelessness and helping new Mainers have the resources they need to flourish.
“The need in our community is greater than ever before,” said Evans. “This support helps our community thrive, not just survive.”
“Investing in United Way of Mid Coast Maine helps NSB make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout the area,” said Dan Walsh, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank, which has donated over $60,000 to the organization in the last decade. “They bring people together to solve community challenges that one organization couldn’t do on its own and through that collaboration, help kids, build financial stability, and encourage healthier and more connected lives for those it serves. We’re thankful for all they’ve done and continue to do.”
