Chrishell Stause Doubles Down on Gwen Stefani Comments: ‘Church Grifter’

Selling Sunset alum Chrishell Stause is strongly opposed to Gwen Stefani’s now-controversial partnership with the Hallow prayer app.

“Context is important,” Stause, 44, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, December 9. “She is taking money to promote an app that encourages anti-abortion, even in cases of [rape] and incest. Please stop making young girls feel guilty to not have a choice.”

Stefani, 56, partnered with Hallow, which is described as a Christian prayer app that offers guided meditation regarding spirituality, earlier this month. In the comments of Stefani’s paid partnership post, Stause replied, “Don’t Speak,” referring to the singer’s No Doubt song of the same name.

“Don’t speak is a play on words. She can say what she wants, and I can oppose it,” Stause wrote on Tuesday. “If your child got pregnant by a pedophile, would you want Gwen Stephanie [sic] making her feel guilty to keep [the baby]? I wouldn’t.”

Stause further shared a screenshot of Hallow’s website, which notes that users may “pray for every woman who is considering abortion” to, instead, understand “the goodness, gift and beauty” of their unborn baby’s life.

“I will always be against stripping women’s rights away — even if it’s dressed up as my once-hero @gwenstefani as a church grifter,” Stause wrote. “It’s free to pray, and Jesus with a side of hidden agendas is not my idea of holiday cheer.”

She continued, “I wish the people against abortion also cared about the children after they are born, like child victims of incest and [rape].”

Since sharing her thoughts about Stefani’s social media partnership, Stause has seen an array of hate comments flooding her Instagram.

Gwen Stefani’s Biggest Controversies: Appropriation, Hallow App and More

“The wildness of the comments, tagging me in multiple posts about this today [and] thinking they can humiliate me, make me feel bad or break me,” she concluded on Tuesday. “Babes, I was on Netflix [and] hardened by nine seasons of internet hate. I’m a different breed at this point. Say what you want. That’s how I feel. Peace and love!”

Stefani, who has not publicly addressed the backlash to her Hallow partnership, initially teamed up with the company to promote its Advent Challenge.

“It is important this holiday season to spend time in prayer. That is what Christmas is all about: letting God into our hearts and letting Jesus bring us his peace,” Stefani said in the December 1 video. “Download Hallow and join me and millions of others in praying every day this advent and Christmas season on Hallow.”

In the comments section, Stefani shared another message about working with the app.

“The season of Advent has always been a reminder to slow down, even when everything around us is moving so fast,” she captioned her video. “It’s such a special time to reflect, pray, and make room in your heart for Jesus. 🙏✝️💜 .”

She continued, “The @hallowapp Advent challenge is called Be Still, and together we’ll learn how to find stillness amidst the chaos and embrace peace even when our lives are so busy. 🎄 Join me for Pray25: Be Still on Hallow. 🤍.”
