
Adrianna Smith led Maine with 10 points in the University of Maine women’s basketball team’s 58-35 loss at Penn on Thursday evening.
The Black Bears dug themselves into a hole early, trailing 18-8 after one quarter, and were unable to battle their way back.
Smith finished the day in double figures with 10 points and added eight rebounds to her stat line. Lizzy Gruber added nine points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes off of the bench for the Black Bears.
Maine concluded the game 10-of-51 (19.6) from the floor, including a 1-for-17 showing from three-point range, and hit 14 of 21 (66.7) from the stripe.
Maine was outrebounded 44-37.
The Black Bears return to action when they face Rhode Island at Memorial Gym on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
