Since their serendipitous formation in 2005 at a Nordic folk music conference, Kongero has become one of the most exciting and innovative voices in the world of folk and a cappella music. Composed of four extraordinary female vocalist — Lotta Andersson, Emma Björling, Sofia Hultqvist Kott and Anna Wikénius — Kongero has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Their performances have earned them a reputation for their ability to captivate audiences with their extraordinary vocal polyphony, expressive harmonies and infectious rhythms.
Kongero’s unique genre, Swedish Folk’appella, blends traditional Swedish folk songs with fresh, modern a cappella arrangements. The group’s performances take audiences on a musical journey that spans moving love ballads, dramatic medieval tales, playful ditties and lively dances. Their mastery of vocal technique and storytelling has earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated following worldwide. Kongero’s most recent album “Live in Longueuil”, released in 2021, has been met with rave reviews.
Tickets for both concerts and the vocal workshop are available now at www.bagaducemusic.org. Purchase your tickets before Dec. 7 for advanced ticket savings. Tickets will be available at the door only when capacity allows. Thank you to Thea Austen & Parker Jayne for their support in bringing Kongero. Additional appreciation for The Midcoast Villager, The Rockport Opera House, Barnswallow Books and Midcoast Music Academy for being the Media Sponsor for the Rockport Opera House Concert.
