Joe Jonas made rare comments about parenting his two daughters with ex-wife Sophie Turner.
“I’ve learned a lot more about [KPop] Demon Hunters than I ever anticipated knowing,” Joe, 36, — who shares Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, with Turner, 29 — joked of the Netflix movie during a People interview with his brothers, Nick and Kevin Jonas, published on Wednesday, December 3.
He added, “I’ve learned so much about being a dad from my little girls. They have no schedule. They’re not like, ‘Can you hurry up?’ So being present with them and being able to just act like phones and time don’t exist — that is most important.”
Joe went on to say that he wants his girls to be kids for “as long as they possibly can” and feel comfortable enough to share anything with him and Turner.
Breaking Down Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Divorce, Custody Battle
“[I hope] that they can talk to me and their mom about anything. That they feel the most safety and comfort they can possibly feel. Whatever that has to do with. I’d rather they look at me like a friend and talk to me,” he said.
Joe and Turner began dating in 2016 and tied the knot in 2019. After four years of marriage, Joe filed for divorce in September 2023.
At the time, they shared a joint statement via Instagram, which read, “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Their divorce was finalized a year later following an international custody battle over passports. (Joe lives in the U.S., Turner is from the U.K.)
During his chat with People, Joe shared that he hopes his daughters inherit his “kindness and understanding and trying to see the best in people.”
As for what he prays they don’t take away from him, Joe admitted, “Wait if you are going to think about music or the entertainment industry. Just give it a couple of years.”
Joe, Kevin, 38, and Kevin, 33, are all girl dads. (Kevin shares Alena, 11, and Valentina, 9, with his wife of 16 years, Danielle Jonas, and Nick shares daughter Malti, 3, with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas.)

Kevin agreed with Joe when it came to “putting the phone down and being in the moment,” while Nick shared that he’s in the non-stop questioning era of parenting.
“I have learned a lot about princesses. I have learned so much,” he told People. “It’s incredible when you get to the ‘why’ phase of parenting, which we’re in now, where everything’s ‘Why?’ You have to actually look at things as an adult and go, ‘Yeah, why?’”
The Jonas Brothers are currently on their JONAS20 tour after releasing their seventh album, Greetings From Your Hometown, in August. Their first holiday movie, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, is also now streaming on Disney+. In the movie, Kevin and Nick’s daughters played themselves, but it’s unclear if the two blonde girls portraying Joe’s kids were actors or his real-life children.
“It’s been a bucket list item for us to do a holiday film,” Joe told People. “We were like, ‘Do we just go all humor, or do we go all personal?’ It’s always a little difficult when you’re playing versions of yourself.”
