The nation’s longest veterans parade kicks off on Saturday and is coming to your community as it travels down the East Coast
COLUMBIA FALLS — Wreaths Across America is proud to announce the commencement of its annual “Escort to Arlington,” the nation’s longest veterans’ parade, on Saturday, Dec 6. This weeklong event is meant to honor and remember our fallen heroes while instilling the value of freedom in the next generation.
On Saturday, Dec. 13 the nation will meet to observe National Wreaths Across America Day. Over 5,600 participating locations nationwide will host ceremonies to commemorate this special day.
The official route, available for viewing here, will make stops at schools, memorials and various locations down the East Coast. Unless specified otherwise, these events are open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend and welcome the Escort as it arrives in the area. Please note that arrival times are approximate. The escort and its participants will be making stops in Maine on Dec. 6-8 at:
Saturday, Dec. 6
LUBEC – Remembrance ceremony to be held from 6:50-7:10 a.m.at the West Quoddy Head Light, located at 973 S Lubec Road
CALAIS – Remembrance ceremony to be held from 11-11:30 a.m. at Calais Border Patrol Crossing, located at 180 International Ave.
HARRINGTON – Ceremony to be held from 4-5:30 p.m. at Narraguagus High School, located at 1611 Main St.
Sunday, Dec. 7
ELLSWORTH – Remembrance ceremony to be held from 9:10-9:55 a.m. at the Downeast YMCA, located at 238 State St.
HERMON – Remembrance ceremony to be held from 12:15-1 p.m. at Hermon High School, located at 2415 US-2.
GARDINER – Remembrance ceremony to be held from 3:40-4:20 p.m. at Gardiner Regional Middle School, located at 161 Cobbossee Ave.
