Happy Endings, a martini bar in downtown Bangor, is looking for a new owner.
The bar, which opened in 2017, was listed for sale at the end of November for $199,000. The price includes the bar’s branding, furniture and equipment.
The cost does not include the space the bar is located in at 32 Main St.
Happy Endings is one of multiple Bangor businesses to close or look to change ownership this year, as the Grind House closed this spring and Evenrood’s announced it’s closing at the end of the year. The posting does not say the business would close if it’s not sold, but does say the business’ lease ends on June 1.
The description calls it an established bar with 50 seats and says the “business only sale comes with a well established customer base as well as all tables, chairs, glassware, commercial kitchen equipment and fixtures.”
The furniture, fixtures and equipment are valued at $75,000 while the stock is priced at $20,000, according to the posting. The bar’s branding and menu are also included in the pricing. The building’s lease is $2,500 a month.
The owner, Melissa Smith, said she planned for her 10th year of owning the bar to be her final one when she started. Getting to her goal year and her kids graduating and going to colleges outside Maine pushed her to look for a new owner, she said in a post on social media.
Smith did not respond to a request for comment.
