The final month of 2025 has arrived, but fortunately, December won’t be a quiet month on the major streamers.
Netflix has an original Western and a comedy musical sequel ready to go, and that’s just near the beginning of the month.
Watch With Us has added those two selections to our picks for the five movies and TV shows you need to watch in December 2025.
The rest of our picks include the second season of Prime Video‘s breakout hit, a promising new Peacock franchise and a horror flick that didn’t get enough attention in theaters.
New on HBO Max in December 2025 — The Full List of Movies and TV Shows
‘The Abandons’ (2025)
Netflix has had success with Western miniseries before, but with the pedigree of The Abandons. Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sudder also created this series, which features Game of Thrones villainess Lena Headey and The X-Files‘ icon Gillian Anderson at odds.
Heady plays Fiona Nolan, a cattle rancher in Jasper Hollow in 1850. Fiona has built a life for herself on the frontier, and adopted Elias (Nick Robinson), Dahlia (Diana Silvers), Albert (Lamar Johnson) and Lilla Belle (Natalia Del Riego) as her children so they can be a family. Constance Van Ness (Anderson) covets the land Fiona owns, and she aims to take it no matter how low she’ll have to go.
The Abandons will stream on Netflix on December 4.
‘Wake Up Dead Man’ (2025)
Knives Out 3, aka Wake Up Dead Man, is bringing back Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, the world’s most famous private detective in the context of these films. This time, Msgr. Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) has a fatal case of a literal knife in his back, and suspicion has fallen on Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor), a young priest who recently joined Wicks’ parish.
‘Knives Out 3’ Trailer Teases Benoit Blanc’s New Case in ‘Wake Up Dead Man’
Jud definitely has motive and reasons to hate Wicks, but is he the killer? There are plenty of suspects to choose from, and this sequel features another all-star cast including Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny and Thomas Haden Church. Since this is a Knives Out movie, chances are very good that some of their characters may bite the dust as well
Wake Up Dead Man will stream on Netflix on December 12.
‘Fallout’ (2024 – Present)
Sometimes it takes years for a hit streaming series to get another season. But Prime Video made sure that Fallout season 2 was ready to go one year and eight months after the series’ premiere in April 2024. This video game adaptation goes off in its own way and features Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean. Lucy thought her mission in the wasteland was to rescue her father, Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan). But ever since Lucy learned what her father did, she’s been hunting him down.
Lucy is also joining forces with The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), a heavily mutated man who saw the end of the world happen two centuries prior. Now, The Ghoul just wants to find his wife and child. Yet even with Lucy’s help, The Ghoul’s quest may be impossible.
Fallout season 2 will stream on Prime Video on December 17.

‘The Copenhagen Test’ (2025)
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu is headlining Peacock’s new sci-fi spy action series, The Copenhagen Test. In the near future, Alexander Hale (Liu) is an intelligence operative whose mind has been hacked. Everything that he knows has potentially been leaked to unknown adversaries.
Melissa Barrera costars as Michelle, a woman seemingly aligned with Alex as he attempts to clear his name and reclaim his life. But when his mind is the battlefield, Alex isn’t even sure he can trust himself, much less Michelle or anyone around them
The Copenhagen Test will stream on Peacock on December 27.
‘Together’ (2025)
Dave Franco and Alison Brie are married in real life and seemingly joined at the hip in many of their projects together. That goes to new extremes in their body horror film, Together. As a couple, Tim Brassington (Franco) and Millie Wilson (Brie) are drifting apart. Physically, they may never be apart again, and that’s the problem.
Alison Brie and Dave Franco Say They Don’t ‘Need an Intimacy Coordinator’
Somehow, Tim and Millie’s bodies are beginning to merge when they stay in physical contact with each other. And they can’t seem to stay away from each other for any extended period of time. If they can’t find a way to break their connection, then there’s no telling what will happen if their bodies fuse permanently. I have a hunch that it won’t be pretty.
Together will stream on Hulu on December 31.
