Maine State Police say they’ve arrested a man connected to a deadly hit-and-run crash in Clinton on Tuesday.
On Thursday afternoon, state police arrested Tyler Hewitt, 31, of Presque Isle after authorities received reports of a suspicious person walking on Hill Road.
Clinton police found Hewitt emerging from the woods near I-95, according to state police.
Authorities say that Hewitt was driving on a suspended license when he was involved in that crash Tuesday morning that killed John Perkins, 38, of Hampden.
Hewitt reportedly ran away from the crash before police got there.
Police say Hewitt was carrying a large amount of meth in a backpack when they found him.
Hewitt has been charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, and operating after suspension.
