New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd offered an update on his condition while recovering from a gunshot wound sustained during a dispute outside a New York restaurant.
“Please bare with me, l haven’t been in communication much…” Boyd, 29, wrote via his Instagram Story on Thursday, November 27. “l was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues…l love and appreciate everyone of yall dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can’t get back to you!”
The NFL star ended his Thanksgiving Day update by assuring his followers that he is on the road to recovery.
“Head HIGH, God is not through with me yet,” he added.

According to police, Boyd was shot in the abdomen at around 2 a.m. ET on November 16 after a dispute turned violent outside Sei Less restaurant on West 38th Street near 7th Avenue. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, with doctors discovering a bullet was lodged in his right lung.
The NYPD has yet to publicly identify a possible suspect by name, though they have released surveillance photos of the incident. The alleged shooter fled the scene in a blue BMW.
Boyd offered an initial update on his condition on November 19 to confirm that he was breathing on his own and alert.
“God is real, God is powerful!” he wrote via his Instagram Story at the time. “I’m sorry, I have no words at the moment. Just grateful! I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!”

Boyd signed with the New York Jets in March, but has yet to play for the team this season due to a shoulder injury. The cornerback began his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 and later played with the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans before signing with the Jets.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that his primary concern was for Boyd and his family — not the team — when he heard about the shooting. (Boyd and his wife welcomed a child together earlier this year.)
“Once I heard about the situation, the first thing I thought about was he just had a kid,” Glenn, 53, said. “I’m thinking about his wife. I’m thinking about his kid. I want to make sure that he’s okay. That’s the only thing that really went through my mind. And anybody else that was involved, make sure those guys are okay.”
Glenn confirmed that he later spoke with Boyd directly but insisted that any discussion of a return to the gridiron was premature.
“That’s something I don’t think needed to be talked about at that time,” the coach explained. “It was more or less: ‘Man, how are you doing? How’s your family doing?’ And there’s a ton of time to talk about football after this incident.”
Boyd’s Jets teammate Harrison Phillips — who previously played with him on the Minnesota Vikings squad as well — told the team’s official website that he was hoping to reunite with the cornerback soon.
“I’ll say something about KB, though … just such an energetic, such a positive person,” Phillips, 29, said. “And that year in ’22 we spent together, he was someone – as I was a new person [after four seasons with Buffalo] – who welcomed me with open arms, because he’s just so positive, wanting to know everybody, playing games, joking all the time. And even my time here with him, he’s still got that upbeat positivity, even while being on IR [injured reserve]. And I can’t wait to see a smile on his face again.”
