ELLSWORTH — Heart of Ellsworth is pleased to announce two upcoming holiday workshops taking place in the makerspace at 16 State St. Each Saturday brings a new opportunity to get creative, connect, and celebrate the season through art and making.
Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Gelatin Printing: Holiday Cards, Tags, Ornaments & More will be led by artist Karin Otto. This festive, hands-on workshop explores the playful world of gelatin printing, a simple, at-home monoprinting technique that produces colorful, one-of-a-kind designs. Participants will use gelatin plates, acrylic inks, and mark-making tools to create unique holiday cards, tags, and ornaments. All materials are provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own textured items such as leaves, lace, or string to personalize their prints.
The following week, Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., instructor Colleen Ross will lead the Stick and Stitch Embroidery Workshop. This cozy session invites participants to learn simple embroidery techniques for embellishing garments, linens, or accessories. Guests can bring an item from home or create a handmade gift using provided patterns and materials. The workshop is designed for all skill levels and offers a relaxed, creative environment.
Both workshops, hosted by Heart of Ellsworth and open to participants aged 12 and up. Space is limited, 10 spots available for Gelatin Printing and 15 for Stick and Stitch, early registration is encouraged.
“It’s always inspiring to see community members come together through creativity,” said Cara Romano, executive director of Heart of Ellsworth. “These workshops are about connection, expression, and the simple joy of making something by hand. The makerspace at 16 State Street is the perfect setting to nurture that creative energy.”
Workshops will take place at 16 State Street, Second Floor Studio, and all materials are included.
