An Andover woman was severely burned Monday night when a hair-removal device ignited her supplemental oxygen.
The older woman was using a heated hair-removal device at her Horseshoe Pond Road home about 10 p.m. when it ignited the tubing to her supplemental oxygen, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron Turcotte.
She suffered burns to her face and head, Turcotte said Wednesday morning.
She was taken to Rumford Hospital before being flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she could receive higher-level care.
Andover is northwest of Rumford.
