Late president John F. Kennedy’s granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg has gone public with her health battle.
Tatiana wrote an essay for The New Yorker in November 2025, revealing that she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Doctors estimated that she had one year to live.
“I did not — could not — believe that they were talking about me. I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew,” Tatiana wrote. “I had a son whom I loved more than anything and a newborn I needed to take care of.”
News of her diagnosis came months after Tatiana gave birth to her second baby in May 2024. Doctors noticed an imbalance in her white blood cell count before discovering that she had “a rare mutation,” Inversion 3.
Tatiana Schlossberg Reveals How Her Siblings Supported Cancer Treatment
Initially, Tatiana was told that she would need to undergo months of chemotherapy and receive a bone-marrow treatment. Doctors then shared that she would not be “cured by a standard course” of treatments.
Her parents, Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg, have since stepped in, along with Tatiana’s siblings, Rose and Jack.
“They have held my hand unflinchingly while I have suffered, trying not to show their pain and sadness in order to protect me from it,” she wrote. “This has been a great gift, even though I feel their pain every day.”
