Ginny & Georgia fans were thrown for a loop with that shocking baby twist — and it’s only the beginning when the show returns for season 4.
Brianne Howey exclusively teased where the Netflix show picks up while speaking with Us Weekly about her partnership with Shutterfly, saying, “The ending for season 3, I was pretty shocked. [Now] reading every episode, the writers blow me away. I’m so grateful to be part of this incredible storytelling.”
Howey, 36, promised that the wait for more episodes would be worth it. “The ending for season 3 couldn’t set us up more perfectly for where season 4 is,” she noted.
During the season 3 finale, which premiered in June, Georgia (Howey) dealt with her new normal after a murder trial — and with her marriage to Paul (Scott Porter) coming to an end. The last scene showed Georgia drinking milk, which her daughter, Ginny (Antonia Gentry), realized was a craving her mother only had when she was pregnant. The twist? It’s unclear whether Paul — or love interest Joe (Raymond Ablack) — is the dad.
Everything to Know About ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 4 After Pregnancy Twist
“Georgia probably needs to mend her soul a little bit after 3. So those were my hopes [for season 4],” Howey teased. “In a dream world, I would like Georgia to be on the right side of history with her children. I really want her to do right by them, rectify as much as possible and show that it’s possible to change.”
While Howey wouldn’t reveal the identity of the father, she gushed about finally getting to explore the fan-favorite relationship between Ginny and Joe.
“Finally [we got to go there]. I think there’s been a lot of subtext there that has been really fun to get to play out,” she added about how Ginny & Georgia has inspired her as an actress. “The show has most definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone in ways that I think have allowed me to grow as a performer. I am super grateful for that.”

Howey pointed out how playing Georgia keeps her on her toes, adding, “I think you can never underestimate the lengths people will go to for their loved ones, especially for their children. Once we think we’ve seen Georgie’s length or her extent or her limit, there’s more.”
While in production on season 4, Howey promised that the show was keeping fans in mind.
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve never been in the position of getting to be a part of a season 4 before. It’s an enormous privilege and it’s not something that we take lightly,” she told Us. “I think I can speak for the whole cast when I say when we see those [viewership numbers] come out, it motivates us to ensure that our next season is also hitting all of the same spots and is as fulfilling. So everyone’s working really hard and is so excited and really kind of just riding the high from the positive feedback.”
She continued: “I’m counting my lucky stars and feeling very, very grateful and definitely giving this season our all. Because we don’t want to let anybody down and we want to do justice for these characters that we also love.”
Which ‘Ginny and Georgia’ Stars Are — And Aren’t — Returning for Season 4?
Howey is also gearing up for the holidays, which she is celebrating with husband Matt Ziering and their daughter. The actress credited Shutterfly for making this year easier when it comes to finding the perfect gift.
“I truly wouldn’t be able to even manage gifting throughout the holiday season — while working — without something as simple as Shutterfly,” she told Us. “It’s probably the most authentic partnership there is for me. I will be using Shutterfly all holiday season anyway.”

Howey expressed her appreciation for the website, which has helped her to surprise her loved ones with custom items.
“I’ve used them every year — probably for the last 10 years. I’m not even exaggerating. It’s the most convenient gift giving stop,” she explained. “[For my daughter], we have a book with all of the pictures of our family and friends at home that we look through every other day to feel close to everybody that we’re missing when we start to feel a little bit homesick.”
She added: “One of my all time favorite items is when I got my stepmom a blanket with our family portrait on it. It was the biggest hit. She lays it out over the couch during the holidays. It’s very sweet. We’re big Halloween people, so we love any reason to feel festive. I utilize a lot of our Halloween pictures for gifts on Shutterfly.”
Ginny & Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
