Rotten Tomatoes reviews may help fans determine which films they should spend their time and money on, but the rankings often overlook one thing: Critics aren’t always right.

The ultimate judge of a film’s quality is often the audience itself. If there’s a good movie that’s been buried under bad reviews, sometimes it can be saved by positive word of mouth.

Watch With Us‘ selections for the three good Netflix films with bad Rotten Tomatoes scores are giving each of these films another chance to be rediscovered.

Our picks for November include an underrated horror film, an outrageous comedy and a divisive thriller.

3 Netflix Movies With Bad Rotten Tomatoes Scores That Are Good (October 2025)

‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ (1997)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 47 percent

Contemporary critics of I Know What You Did Last Summer treated it like a third-rate Scream knock-off. But it sure looks a lot better in retrospect compared to the remake/legacy sequel that came out earlier this year. Not coincidentally, the returning original cast members blew their successors off the screen whenever they appeared together in the new version.

For a ’90s teen slasher flick, this one had a Hell of a cast, including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr., Johnny Galecki and Bridgette Wilson. One summer, Julie James (Hewitt), Helen Shivers (Gellar), Barry Cox (Phillippe) and Ray Bronson (Prinze) are directly responsible for the death of a pedestrian. They thought they covered up their crime, but one year later, a killer in a fisherman’s outfit stalks the group with menacing messages. The four friends don’t take it seriously enough until the bodies start piling up.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is streaming on Netflix.

‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’ (1994)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 47 percent

It’s safe to say that critics were not fond of Jim Carrey‘s Ace Ventura, or his occasional tendency to talk out of his butt. Yet audiences couldn’t care less what the critics thought, and they welcomed the In Living Color actor to the big screen and turned him into a star. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective let Carrey cut loose with an intentionally obnoxious hero who even alienated the other characters in his film.

5 Best Netflix Movies to Watch Right Now, Ranked by Rotten Tomatoes (October 2025)

A pre-Friends Courteney Cox costars as Melissa Robinson, the publicist for the Miami Dolphins. After the team makes it back to the Super Bowl, someone kidnaps their mascot, the Bottlenose dolphin called Snowflake. It’s the perfect opportunity for Ace, because he’s got a great affinity for all creatures great and small who aren’t human. But he really will have to play detective to crack this case.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is streaming on Netflix.

‘Don’t Worry Darling’ (2022)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 38 percent

Don’t Worry Darling is a film that’s been overshadowed by rumors of behind-the-scenes conflicts and affairs that might actually make a better movie than the one we got. But Florence Pugh gives a great performance as Alice Warren-Chambers, the housewife of Jack Chambers (Harry Styles). Alice lives in a luxurious ’50s-style town called Victory, and she doesn’t seem too preoccupied by anything beyond her own life.

Olivia Wilde directed the film and costars as one of Alice’s best friends, Bunny. When Alice witnesses something inexplicable, Jack dismisses her questions and leaves her emotionally adrift as she searches for answers. What Alice finds only leads to more questions about the life she’s living and what’s really going on in Victory.

Don’t Worry Darling is streaming on Netflix.
