
ROCKLAND — A pedestrian was injured Thursday afternoon, Nov. 20 when she was struck by a car driving onto Union Street.
According to Rockland Police, Jennifer Spear, 34, of Thomaston, was walking north on the Union Street sidewalk. At the same time, a car operated by Norwood Beveridge, 62, of North Haven, had stopped at the stop sign at Union and Granite streets.
Beveridge then pulled out into the intersection and struck Spear, according to police.
The driver said he did not see the woman and the sun was in his eyes. He had also looked right to make sure there was no oncoming traffic, according to police, and the woman was approaching from the left.
The woman was taken by Rockland emergency medical services to MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital in Rockport with pain in her elbow and head.
