Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb isn’t denying that he broke team rules, leading to his and teammate George Pickens’ benching at the start of the team’s Monday Night Football game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, November 17.

But he doesn’t want you to believe the rumors circulating on social media that he was spotted outside a casino at 7:30 the morning of the game, throwing up.

“That’s a disrespect to even suggest that,” Lamb, 26, told reporters on Thursday. “I know how to hold my liquor.”

Lamb did admit that he and Pickens, 24, were out “a little late, after curfew.”

Regardless of the pair’s whereabouts in the early morning hours of their game day, it doesn’t seem like their actions had much of an impact on their performances. Lamb had 66 receiving yards and a touchdown in Dallas’ 33-16 win, while Pickens had 144 yards and a touchdown of his own.

After the game, Lamb refused to go into detail about his benching, telling reporters, “I’m not going in-depth on that. Honestly, I’m not. I’m sorry, I’m not.”

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer only told reporters “there were some things that were missed,” but later praised both players for their on-field performances.

“Sign me up. I mean, what do you say? Those two guys, I just love their relationship, man. I love the firepower that they give us,” said Schottenheimer, 52. “That’s one of those games where you never know which one it’s going to be. Some games it’s both of them, some games it’s one of them, and again, like I said, I pinch myself at times. … I’m very in favor of George having a long-term future with us.”

But the win over Las Vegas was about more than putting up a gaudy statline. It was also the Cowboys’ first game since the unexpected death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland. Kneeland, who was 24, died on November 6 by apparent suicide, days after scoring the first touchdown of his career.

Players and fans observed a moment of silence for Kneeland prior to the game and the Cowboys wore special t-shirts in his honor.

“It’s been a difficult 10 days as this team tries to process their loss while also trying to continue their season,” Monday Night Football sideline reporter Lisa Salters said during the broadcast. “The last time Marshawn was on the field he recovered a blunt punt for his first career touchdown and just three days later he was gone,” “The Cowboys held a private vigil for Kneeland on Tuesday night at their facility, but perhaps it was Thursday’s practice, getting back on the field together for the first time, that offered the most healing.”

Salters, 59, also said she spoke to Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before the game. He told her his message to his teammates was, “When you think about Marshawn, run harder to the ball, focus in a little bit more, realizing that we’re getting to do something that Marshawn isn’t going to do anymore.”

The Cowboys’ next game is at home on Sunday, November 23 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
