FRYEBURG — Asbury Shorts USA, New York City’s longest running short film exhibition and touring show, returns to The Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center for a 15th anniversary year to present their nationally recognized “Short Film Concert” on Friday night, Nov. 21. An eclectic evening screening of globally honored short films from the past and present. The first film blasts onto the screen at 7:30 p.m. This fast paced and highly entertaining showcase is strongly recommended for ages 16 and way above.
Asbury short film “concerts” combine award winning short films from past years with new festival honorees, providing a rare opportunity for attendees to view internationally honored selections on a real cinema screen rather than YouTube, computers or smartphones. Academy Award nominated director Jason Reitman (“Ghostbusters Afterlife,” “JUNO,” “ Up in the Air,” ” Thank You for Smoking”) calls Asbury, “The best short film show I’ve ever experienced.” The two-hour program will feature the best in short film comedy, drama and animation. As always there will be unannounced surprises.
Asbury shorts concerts have been presented at The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Vero Beach Museum of Art in Florida, The Old Vic in Chicago, Algonquin Arts Theatre in New Jersey, Summer Stage in Central Park, the DGA Theater in Manhattan, The AERO in Santa Monica, California; Alamo Draft House in Dallas, Royal Festival Hall in London, The Lake Placid Center for the Arts, The Osprey Art Center in Nova Scotia, Canada .. .and the Charleston Music Hall in South Carolina to name a few of the prestigious venues where audiences have enjoyed these outstanding films … and now for a 15th year at The Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center.
