Savannah Chrisley had a stressful situation in customs when coming back from Europe.

“Should we tell my story about how I almost went to jail?” Savannah, 28, asked her dad, Todd Chrisley, on the Tuesday, November 18, episode of her “Unlocked” podcast.

Todd, 56, joked he would “prefer” if they wouldn’t talk about any of their family members going to jail, seemingly making reference to his and wife Julie Chrisley’s time behind bars. (The couple was convicted on federal charges of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy and sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison before being pardoned by President Donald Trump in May.)

Despite her dad’s quip, Savannah continued to and explain that she got in trouble while going through United States customs following her European vacation.

“So I didn’t know, and this is just a PSA for people. When you are traveling, you have to declare if you make purchases overseas, which I did,” she recalled. “I declared.”

Savannah shared that when you go abroad, you are asked by customs agents how much you spent during her trip. The Chrisley Knows Best alum confessed that she provided an estimated number because it can be difficult to keep track of all the purchases.

“I gave them a number and I didn’t know it was this serious,” she said.

After giving them an estimate, Savannah was asked by the agent to step to the side to go “through a different process.”

“So I go over and the guy goes, ‘So how much did you say?’ And I told him,” she reflected. “Keep in mind, I handed all my receipts to them and the products. And he goes, ‘Your number is far off.’”

Todd quipped, “Shocker.”

Savannah noted that she apologized to the agent and explained that she “wasn’t really keeping track” of how much she spent while visiting “four or five different countries.” The agent then warned her he could “seize” all the “belongings” she bought during her vacation and fine her $10,000.

“I was sweating, I was sweating bullets,” she said. “[My brother] Grayson and his girlfriend [Skylar Ehlinger], she felt my back after she died laughing ‘cause that sweatshirt was soaked. I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m about to go to prison right now. Now this is not fun.’”

Todd joked that Savannah was throwing out the word prison too much to his liking.

“You’re not going to prison for that,” Todd explained. Savannah argued that she could have been detained, but Todd reminded her that the process “was not prison.”

Savannah ultimately got the issue worked out with another customs agent who was “very nice” to her. The podcaster confessed that she asked what kind of items they had seized, and the agent shared that there was a taxidermied lion and drugs, which they find just about every day.

“I was freaking out, if I had gotten my stuff confiscated, you would have seen me on the news,” she joked.

While the experience of coming home was nerve-racking for Savannah, she shared she had a good time, especially in Amsterdam and Florence.
