Kim and Khloé Kardashian‘s reunion with Britney Spears may have come as a surprise to some — but how did it happen?
A source exclusively told Us Weekly that Spears’ manager, Cade Hudson, “set up the reunion” when he “reached out” to Kim, 45.
“They’re not that close, but they do have a lot of respect for each other because of their work ethic and their resilience in handling scrutiny,” the insider shared about Kim and Khloé’s connection to Spears, 43.
While the trio are “not in touch often,” they enjoyed a girls’ night after last seeing each other “a few years” ago.

“It wasn’t a sleepover. They cooked and they talked a little about the excitement of finding love again,” the source noted about the gathering, which took place at Kim’s home. “Britney showed Kim and Khloé’s daughters a few dance moves, which the girls loved.”
“They all had fun,” the insider added, noting that Britney loved hanging out with Kim and Khloé, 46. “They’re friendly, but Britney’s a Southern girl — she’s shy. They all feel comfortable that they can reach out to each other when they want to.”
According to the source, it was nice for Britney “to reconnect and feel support and warmth” in the aftermath of her ex-husband Kevin Federline‘s tell-all book.
“Cade is the one who really got Britney’s spirit up again during this time,” the insider said. “He got her to really laugh again and feel alive again.”
Spears and Federline, 47, were married from 2004 to 2007 and expanded their family with sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, before their split. After her divorce from Federline, Britney was under a conservatorship overseen by her father, Jamie Spears, for much of her children’s lives. The conservatorship was terminated in late 2021 after 13 years, and Britney has worked to rebuild her relationship with her sons.
In 2023, Britney released a memoir titled The Woman in Me. Federline, for his part, released his own book, You Thought You Knew, last month. Ahead of its release, Britney slammed Federline for writing about their relationship and its aftermath.
“I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” she wrote via Instagram in October. “Relationships with teenage boys [are] complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”
She continued: “Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by [my] own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too.”

She went on to accuse Federline of telling alleged mistruths, writing, “From now on I will let them know when I am available. Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”
The singer’s rep also released a statement about Federline’s memoir.
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” the statement read. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
During an exclusive interview with Us, Federline — who no longer receives $40,000-a-month child support checks from Spears — denied that his memoir was a cash grab.
“Money’s not the root of this thing,” he said at the time. “I feel like, if she has the right to tell her story, why don’t I?”
Another source told Us that Spears is “really upset and shocked” about Federline’s accusations.
“She thinks he’s trying to set her up again in a conservatorship, and she knows that’s not going to happen,” the insider shared. “She thinks Kevin is trying to distance the boys from her again as their relationship has been building. His allegations are a desperate attempt to make money, but she does believe people will see his intentions.”
