Community gathering offers support for grieving families
BANGOR — The holiday season, often celebrated as a time of joy and togetherness, can also bring deep emotional challenges for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. To support people and families navigating this difficult time, the Beacons of Hope Grief Program at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, in partnership with All Souls Congregational Church, is hosting a special holiday grief support event on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at All Souls Congregational Church in Bangor.
This event is designed to bring our community together around food, reflection and compassionate connection. Families, individuals and children are welcome to attend. The evening will include shared conversation, peer support circles, guidance on coping with grief during the holidays, and an activity of remembrance.
“The holidays can amplify feelings of absence and longing,” says Stacey Coventry, director, community engagement, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. “We want families to know they are not alone. There is space for their stories, their heartache, their memories — and their hope.”
A Place at the Table holiday grief event is free and open to the public. For planning purposes, pre-registration is encouraged, however, walk-ins are warmly welcomed. Register at northernlighthealth.org/BeaconsOfHope.
